Visualization Tools

Norbridge’s analytical strengths are matched by presentation and communication techniques that bring additional insight and value to our clients’ data. For example, we utilize innovative visualization tools that allow rapid screening of large databases, and user-friendly presentation of results.

Interactive web-based maps. Eighty percent of all data has a geographic component, and Norbridge has found that mapping geographic data provides compelling new insights beyond those derived from tabular and graphic displays. We’ve moved beyond static maps to interactive maps available on the Web, allowing client users to explore data on their own to find new patterns, relationships, and opportunities.

To provide a public example of this approach, Norbridge has partnered with Schedule Distribution Services (Skedz), a provider of intermodal transportation schedules and terminal information, to display available US schedules using an interactive web mapping tool.

To see the interactive features of the map, click on the link below, which will launch the map in a new window (you can resize the map by dragging the bottom right corner of the window). Follow the instructions at the top to view the fastest inbound and outbound intermodal schedules to and from metro areas with direct ramp service.

NOTE! Adobe SVG Viewer 3 does not officially support Firefox (as of July 3, 2006).

Launch: Intermodal Performance Map

NOTE! Quick tool download (2MB file) may be required.
If you do not already have the required xml plug-in for your browser, you will need to install it before you will be able to view the maps. Attempting to launch the map should automatically trigger a prompt to get the software if you don't have it. We provide the information below in case for whatever reason that doesn't happen.

The required plug-in is the SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) Viewer from Adobe. Here is a new window to obtain, download and install the Adobe SVG Viewer. Once at the Adobe download page, scroll down to choose your language and click on the appropriate operating system from the table presented. A window will pop up asking if you want to run or save the file. You can run the SVGView.exe file directly, or save the file to your desktop, then run it. After completing the process, close the Adobe window.
