A Class I railroad needed to identify and implement short-term and long-term improvements in the safety, operational, and financial performance of its terminals. These terminals play a critical role in the overall performance of the railroad network.

We used cross-functional client teams focused on the following key areas:

• A thorough analysis of terminal operating processes to identify specific recommendations for improving productivity and reducing costs
• Training for terminal management to ensure long-term performance improvements
• Strategies for attracting and keeping key terminal operations personnel
• Revised terminal performance measures to focus on the key measures that drive overall terminal performance

We provided the client with a set of specific process improvement recommendations and training for increasing the capacity and improving the performance of its terminal network. The client is currently finalizing its strategies and developing an implementation plan for roll-out in the near future.
